“Bonus”? feature of Mountain Lion

So, while I have yet to experience the beauties of Mountain Lion a complaint has surfaced. After the install of Mac OS X 10.8 on the Fox’s mac I hear rumblings of frustration. “My RSS Feeds are GONE!”.  Check Safari? Check Mail.app? Yes, definitely gone. Now, I’ve always known Apple to push the envelope, but ditching RSS feeds when they were built into both Safari and Mail. And not just ditching them gracefully in one or the other, but both. At the same time. Bad form, my favorite not so little company in Cupertino. Bad form.

So where does that leave me? Still on the fence on Mountain Lion. Feeling like the “Most Interesting Man in the World”, I don’t read RSS feeds often, but when I do, I’d like to be able to access them easily. So, I am now on the search for a decent RSS reader that isn’t going to break the bank (interpret as “FREE” if you like) and has an OS X native feel to it.

I’ve heard some good words about Vienna, but at this point I am game for anything that will work.

Vienna works quite well as a standalone RSS reader that uses both its own web browser if you want it or can use your default browser (like Safari) with a simple click. I regret that it’s no longer a part of Safari, but it really works out better for me as the feeds are now collected in a separate place for viewing.
